Interpreting in Special Education Settings

   (12-hour course, presented in 2 day format)



This workshop is especially designed for bilingual school staff whose duties include interpreting to Spanish at EIPs, SSTs, and other special education meetings. This course will provide an overview of State and Federal Laws pertaining to rendering to translation and interpretation services in the special education setting, as well as an overview of the National Association of School Psychologist (NASP) Recommended Practices for Working with Interpreters.

Vocabulary activities will assist participants in choosing the correct word to interpret difficult special education terminology and acronyms. Reference books and online resources will also be presented, which will assist the special education interpreter to prepare for an interpreting assignment.
